**What is the difference between the sweeteners?**

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and cane sugar are both made up of glucose and fructose, but in different proportions.

HFCS is cheaper to produce in the US because of government subsidies to corn farmers, and is used in 90% of Coca-Cola sold in the country.

Cane sugar is used in Mexican Coca-Cola, which some say has a different, more"caramel" taste.

The president has long criticised corn syrup, calling it"terrible" and blaming it for obesity.
